(AP)- Dr. Robert Bussing, a professor of Internal Medicine at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, Il., has been beset, like most physicians these days, by decreasing reimbursement and increasing costs. He was trying to find an interest that would help supplement his decreasing income. His answer was to follow a life-long love...shaving. He now moonlights weekends and nights as a OR prep person. When a person undergoes an operation, the area involved needs to be shaved just prior to making the incision. "I'm in heaven," says Bussing, "Here I am doing something I love and getting paid for it!" "Dr. Bussing's the best prepper we've ever had," says Irene Gluck, OR supervisor. "He brings a level of enthusiasm to the job that's a joy to watch. He's especially good at inguinal hernia and other 'sensitive' prep areas. He's fast, and leaves very few nicks or cuts. Plus when he's done, we just put him back in his little box until the next case."
